in san francisco with no major problems and the morning commute looks good on 101 approaching the 880 split into san francisco. we talked about 880 near hayward, there could be something there or somebody could have reported southbound and chp found it and 880 and north street. >>> the rain is not going to hit us just yet but by tonight, it is still well to the north and even cent city is reporting rain and it is not here just yet. we have low clouds developing and it is not as widespread in the overnight hours and many of us are waking up a few degrees above freezing and it is coming through especially in the north bay where temperatures are in the 30s. mid-30s in and around novato. here is the storm that will bring us rain to the bay area, snow to the mountains and we have a dusting because snow levels will drop down about 3,000 feet. i will stop it where i think we may actually have critical moments and by of that -- because of that drive, into the evening it takes until 7:00 before we move into the north bay and i believe your evening drive will be fairly nice. we have sprinkles b

it is crowded but not stop and go and also the commute looks good on northbound 101 in san francisco, let's go back to the desk. >>> we are finding developing news on bethel island where firefighters have put out a fire which has burned two homes. you can see a very active scene on taylor road on bethel island which started around 2:30 a.m. and it has burned two homes and some downed power lines made it difficult to access that fire and a passersby alerted one homeowner to the flames. >> i was sleeping and somebody was banging downstairs and i went out and i found my next door neighbor fully engulfed in flames so we got out. >> it is complicated by the fact that bethel island does not have fire hydrants and water has to be trucked in. >>> a young man was shot very close to a grade school. this happened on the sidewalk of clyde fisher middle school. janine de la vega has been out there since 4:30 a.m., tell us what police are saying about the victim. >> reporter: he is still in the hospital recovering but this morning police are looking for the person responsible who gunned down that young man

bit. >>> time is 6:02. new this morning police in south san francisco out there searching for a serial arsonist. three fires were deliberately set saturday night and sunday morning. the fires were all quickly put out. they caused very little damage. if you have information on this, get in contact with san francisco police. >>> the coast guard meantime has called off the search for a man who disappeared while playing in the surf near half- moon bay. coast guard helicopters spent several hours yesterday looking for carlos lopez. he is 22 years old. he had been playing soccer with friends when he vanished into the rough ocean waters. >> pretty strong current. it was a dead low tide so all the rips which were every 200 to 300 yards were sucking pretty hard. >> ktvu news checked in with the coast guard early this morning. right now there are no plans to resume the search unless there is a major new development. >>> this week the u.s. supreme court will hear arguments on two same sex marriage cases including proposition 8 california's ban on same sex marriage. they are holding a rally and ma

right near san francisco state. she was rushed to san francisco general hospital. now the driver of the train is now on nondriving status. that is a policy for the transportation agency. muni is also investigating how the door of a train was knocked off yesterday afternoon. muni says the driver had trouble closing the door at the forest hills station. once the door finally shot, he continued on to the castro station with no problems. but once it got to the tunnel by the church street station, the door started to bang loudly and it came off. luckily no one was hurt. >>> let's check in with sal for a look at traffic. sal, what are you keeping an eye on? >> just got word of a crash on marsh creek road. near morgan territory out to marsh creek springs. it's an overturned vehicle reported. and the paramedics are on the way to this crash. we'll see how seriously someone is injured. it's a heavily traveled road and could cause delays. let's take a look at the foggy bay bridge toll plaza. that is backed up. the fog is thicker than it was before. it's about a 15 minute delay at the toll p
in san francisco, 2 overnight stabbings are being investigated and they happened within blocks of each other. two separate investigations are happening, here is march? >> we understand one man is in critical condition and the other one is expected to be okay. it happened at 3:30 this morning, a man was stabbed and the other ran off. his injuries are considered non- life threatening. earlier near mission street and 17th, violence broke out in an alleyway. a 32-year-old man was involved in a fight and was stabbed in the and demeant, we are -- abdomen and we are not sure how many times. the victim is still in surgery in critical condition. inspectors already arrested somebody who is being questioned at mission and we are waiting to hear if he will be arrested. he is described as latino. and the other suspects are described as latino and they to not believe the stabbing was gang related and police do not believe these two stabbings were related in any way. we will stay on top of both of these stabbings and let you know the condition of that person in surgery. tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 m
